for detailed information on the software and hardware from the manufacturer.  Runs on Windows 98 allowing for cheap dedicated systems that you can remotely check up on if you hang  on a network.  Will run on 100 MHz pentium or faster so you can easily find a computer system at very low cost or free that will do the job.   Comes with softcopy of  manuals on CD.  Controller has serial communications capability and heating output circuit installed that is a pulse type that is optimal for driving the input of electronic power switches.  Controller has socket available for install of cooling output of the same type.  This is particularly attractive for those wanting to do peltier temperature control.  This system works with all the common thermocouple types and RTD's of the DIN and JIS type. The software is available separately for other communications capable controllers. Inquire.    For an extra $15 you can get an RS-232 to RS-422 converter with the kit. ( available for >=~15$ on ebay )  Recommended if you're not a heavy "TechHead" as then all you have to do is connect a serial RS-422 cable that I include with the converter. Converter goes on serial port and cable goes on the converter output to the controller as follows:  Computer Serial Port-->Converter-->422 cable --> Controller.  If you need a K type thermocouple I can supply with the kit already connected up for an additional $20.

With this kit all you have to do is: (1) open one side of the kiln power lines  (2) place the switch shown in the block diagram in series with the power line.  (3) mechanically mount the controller and switch( electronic switch should be heat sinked by being mounted on a metal plate )  

Switch details :   The switch is an electronic one so you don't have to worry about contacts wearing out or switching noise.  It handles up to 40 amps at 120 or 240 VAC.  Inquire if you need a higher current switch instead )

With this software you can now control as many kilns as you have serial ports on your computer. ( you need a controller as pictured below for each port )
